Dr. Alex Meng is currently a Managing Director of The Hina Group’s investment banking division.
Alex joined The Hina Group in 2011, and has been focusing his business interest on Mobile Internet, Internet, Consumption and Intelligent Hardware sectors. With extensive knowledge of business finance management, strong skill in transaction structuring and rich experience in financial instruments, Alex has advised on various M&As and private placements worth more than $1 billion for renowned clients, including Baidu TakeAway, Hujiang etc., and has taken part in a plethora of classic domestic re-listings for VIEs, such as Ximalaya, Beva and Adwo.
Alex holds his Doctor’s and Master’s degrees in Finance from York University, and a Bachelor degree from Guanghua School of Management Peking University.

Eric has been CFO of The Hina Group since 2003 and is a shareholder and co-founder of the company. He is also CFO for Hina Capital Partners and the Hina Group Fund and is a member of the Hina Group Fund investment committee. He co-authored Tips From Top Financial Officers: What Your Finance Team Needs to Know and wrote International Private Equity (U.S. & China), both published in 2013 and available on Amazon.
Prior to the Hina Group, Eric was a Venture Partner at ZAP Ventures, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm focusing on broadband communications. Eric was Vice President, Alliances, for Gaia Interactive, an international internet software company. He was also Vice President of Business Development and Chief Financial Officer for BioData, a web-based information technology solution provider for biotechnology companies.
As CFO of BioData, he joined the Financial Executives Institute in 1993 and is a member today. He has been a member of the Private Equity CFO Association since 2008. Eric was responsible for mergers and acquisitions valuation in Hewlett-Packard's Corporate Development department, with involvement in more than a dozen potential acquisitions and a major product line divestiture. Eric has served on the boards of four private companies and one non-profit. He has served twelve years as a planning commissioner in Los Altos Hills where he reviewed and approved plans and construction of the highest priced home in US history ($100M). He was quoted in dozens of publications as the PC and microprocessor Senior Industry Analyst for the InfoCorp unit of Gartner Group.
Eric has been the Finance and Operations Principal (FINOP) for the Hina Group for ten years, having passed the FINRA Series 27 exam. He earned an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and an MSEE from Stanford University School of Engineering focusing on semiconductor physics. He earned his BA in three years from Dartmouth College with a double major in Engineering and Physics and a minor in Economics.

Mr. Hai Zhu is currently an Executive Director of The Hina Group’s private equity division.
During his tenure at The Hina Group, Mr. Hai Zhu has completed a range of blockbuster deals, including Wanda’s strategic acquisition of 99bill and 9you’s takeover of Hunan TV & Broadcast Intermediary, with the accumulative transaction amount being more than RMB 4 billion. Mr. Zhu is now an investment partner of Hina’s RMB fund, overseeing RMB investment opportunities. The fund team has successfully invested Hujiang, Irena and BoBoCorn etc.
Prior to joining The Hina Group, Mr. Zhu worked at Fortune Venture Capital, overseeing investments of the RMB 3.0 billion Cultural Tourism Fund, and at the Investment Bank Division of CITIC Securities, taking charge of implementing major capital operation programs, including IPOs of BROS and HopeRun, private placement of Calxon Group, and major assets restructuring of Shanghai Xingye Housing, with the accumulative transaction amount during the period being over RMB 4.0 billion. In addition, in the early days of his career, he also served at KPMG, and had a short stint of entrepreneurial experience.
Mr. Zhu holds his Master’s degree in Economics from Hong Kong University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
Howard Meng is currently an Executive Director of Investment Banking Division at The Hina Group.
Mr. Meng is an experienced and driven investment banker with solid M&A and capital raising transactions worth more than $700 million, and strong track of record in both domestic and cross-border by advising Chinese listed companies to successfully complete overseas acquisitions in the U.S., Germany, Australia, New Zealand and Denmark, while vice versa. He has been providing innovative strategic advice and solutions to a diverse client base, including public and private corporations, and financial sponsors, with strong industry expertise in industrial, auto parts, natural resources, consumer, and etc.
Mr. Meng was responsible to establish M&A business, while leading Chinese clients coverage, and as key interface with global clients and investors since joined. He was the first China hire of Lincoln International to establish its China presence; and he started his investment banker career with Cedar Street Capital, a boutique investment banking firm on Wall Street specializes in cross-border M&A.
Howard earned his Master of Financial Engineering degree from Cornell University, and an honor Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Economics from Rutgers University, where he graduated with Cum Laude and was elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society.
